So Many Kind Words

I recently bought a Spanish Revival house in Denver, built in 1889, with many interesting architectural features. In the loft area upstairs, there was a closet that was a perfect space for a hidden door — something I had always wanted to have in my home. Peggy and the folks at Hidden Doors by Design did a spectacular job of installing a bookcase door and you’d never know there was a closet space behind it.

But the best part was telling my children that there was a “secret passageway” in the house and having them each take turns finding it. My 10-year old twins were especially enchanted by the idea and ransacked the house when it was their turn. Now it’s a favorite hangout spot to read and play games.

We chose to incorporate a hidden door in our newly finished basement and it was the best decision we could have made! It looks beautiful and fits in well with our decor in the basement. We are able to decorate with pictures, books and trinkets from our travels – and of course, it looks impeccable and doesn’t stand out as a standard door would.
