Specs - Just the Basics

Quality in Every Detail

Our hidden door bookcases and cabinets can be used in place of a interior door and when closed, they are flush with the wall completely concealing the doorway. Our doors install easily in new or existing construction. Many people include our hidden doors when they finish their basements.

Quality Construction

Each one of our products is built by talented carpenters using premium quality solid wood and solid core veneers. All our hidden door units are shipped unfinished, sanded and ready for you to finish in a paint or stain that matches the trim in your home. That way, your hidden door remains ‘hidden.’

Unique Internal Structural System

Our full-size hidden door bookcases and cabinets feature conceled steel structures that have been designed by a structural engineer for added strength and rigidity. Each steel structure weighs about 115 lbs.

In-Swing and Out-Swing Models, Sizes

Our hidden doors are available as left or right in-swing or out-swing models. Doors come in three different widths: 2’8”, 3’0” and 3’4”. Standard heights are 6’8”, 7’0”, 7’6” and 8’0”. Custom heights are also available.

The out-swing door opens 90 degrees; the in-swing door opens approximately 120 degrees. Our 3’0” and 3’4” wide doors have an exterior depth of 12” with 10 ½ deep shelves. Our 2’8” wide door has an exterior depth of 11” and 9 ½ deep shelves. Illustrations are available upon request.

Drawers measure approximately 9” from front to back with the depth and length depending on the style and size of hidden door you select.

New 180 Out-Swing Model

Our new, patented, out-swing hidden door bookcase opens 180 degrees to give you a wider doorway opening. It is available in left or right out-swing models in custom widths up to 3’6”. It is perfect for narrower doorways.

Rough Framing

The rough framing needs to be 2” wider and 3” higher than the door size you order. For best results, please consult us before framing.

Locks and Security

Our standard closure is a ball-catch pressure latch similar to one used on double doors or heavy cabinet doors.

If you’d like added security, you’ll love our commercial grade magnetic locking system. This popular option comes with two car-key size remotes and an ‘exit button’ for the back side of the door. If you select this option, you will need an electrical outlet installed on the wall behind the door within 3 feet of the top of the latch side. Alternatively, you may have an electrician hard-wire the system for you. Battery back-ups are available as an addition to this system.

Concealed Security Panels

If you’re building a panic room or safe room and would like additional peace of mind, we can build your hidden door bookcase with an ArmorCore level 3 bullet-resistant panel.

Design Your Custom Hidden Door

Our Design Center allows you to customize your hidden door with your choice of size, wood, and optional trim selections including self edge details, cabinet doors, drawer front panels, casing and headers and parting stops. Please visit our Design Center for illustrations.

If you have a custom design in mind, please let us see if we can build it for you.

Matching Fixed Bookcases and Cabinets

Do you have an office or library where you’d like a wall of bookcases or cabinets and a hidden door? When we build your hidden door and matching units, they will match so perfectly that only you will know where the hidden door is!

What is Included in My Order?

A standard hidden door bookcase comes with adjustable shelves, matching door jambs, back and side panels, casing and header trim for both sides of the doorway, a ball-catch pressure latch, the internal steel structure and bottom block.

The internal steel structure weighs approximately 115 lbs. Weight of the bookcase varies depending on the size.

Installation, Delivery and Shipping

If you live in the greater Denver area, we’ll be happy to deliver and install your hidden door for you. Our reasonable prices depend on your location. For delivery and installation, plan on six weeks from the date your deposit is received.

If your order is to be shipped, your hidden door will be professionally packed in a crate, insured and delivered by a common carrier. Please allow eight weeks for delivery. Shipping costs are not included in our prices. Just give us your address and we’ll be happy to get a shipping estimate for you.

Detailed installation instructions are included with each shipping order and you are always welcome to call us if you have questions. Although our hidden doors are not difficult to install, for best results we recommend that your hidden door be installed by a carpenter or contractor who is skilled in hanging doors. Our hidden doors can removed without damaging them if you have an occasional need to move a large item through the doorway.

Payment Requirements

After your estimate is approved, and you are ready to order your hidden door, please return a signed estimate and a deposit equal to 50% of the total price. Payment may be made by check, wire or on-line bank transfer. Once your hidden door is installed, you will receive an invoice for the balance due.

If your door is being shipped, the total amount for the hidden door and shipping is due prior to the time the order is picked up by the shipping company.

Our Warranty

We warrant our workmanship and materials for ninety days (90) days from the date of delivery. The internal steel structure is covered for one year after delivery. Our company cannot warrant installation by others and we cannot warrant our products if they have been altered after delivery.
